Commercial Lines Account Manager

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to manage the daily needs of our commercial lines clients in our West Des Moines, Iowa office.  This position acts as primary client relationship manager with responsibility for overall account servicing and maintenance.  This person would perform all account transactions including renewals, endorsements, certificates, billings, follow-up and correspondence on accounts.  In addition, this person needs to respond to client inquiries, incoming mail, company requests and other specialty projects on a timely basis.  


  • Maintains files in agency management system and document management system in an orderly, up-to-date manner.
  • Receives phone calls and office visitors requesting quotes, changes to existing coverage and/or new policies.  
  • Performs account transactions including but not limited to applications, quotations, ID cards, endorsements, invoices, binders, renewals, certificates, follow-up and correspondence on assigned accounts.
  • Obtains renewal information from the insured and company on designated accounts prior to renewal and completes applications as needed.  
  • Conducts periodic service calls for designated accounts to review increases in limits and/or overages or rounding out accounts through sales to clients at service contact opportunities.
  • Receives and reviews all terminations and cancellations to determine action to be taken.
  • Documents all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages.


  •  Must be an assertive self-starter with the ability to influence others.  
  • Must have strong and effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications.
  • Must be an independent thinker and self-motivator.    


  • License/Certificates:  IA Commercial P&C License required.  Professional insurance designations preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years property and casualty commercial client management.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of insurance principals.
  • Skills/Competencies: Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate technical insurance information to insureds. Requires strong multi-tasking, analytical, attention to detail and computer navigational skills.
